CALGARY AGILE meets the third Thursday of every month from September to May (excluding December) at Improving Calgary. We provide a focal point for the use of agile methods in local businesses and organizations. Our diverse and inclusive membership includes software developers, managers, business professionals, researchers, students, and people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
We have a local focus and our meetings promote networking within our agile community. Members are encouraged to ask questions, offer to speak, propose alternative meeting styles, and to fully participate. Each meeting typically starts with a half-hour "meet and greet" session where members can socialize and have fun. This is followed by a one hour talk by a distinguished guest. We are always experimenting with more ideas, and encourage active engagement, so subscribe for the latest!
CALGARYAGILE has evolved since being founded as the Calgary Agile Methods User Group in 2002 by Dr. Frank Maurer and Dr. Grigori Melnik at the University of Calgary. Having grown to be Calgary's largest agile user group as well as the longest running. Full-Stack Developer
Andrew Stefankiv is a Technical Writer and Full-Stack Developer based in Calgary with a passion for making complex technical topics easy to understand. With hands-on experience building modern web apps using tools like React, TypeScript, and Firebase, he brings a developer’s mindset to every piece of documentation he creates.
He enjoys digging into how things work—whether it’s an API, a tech stack, or a user workflow—and turning that knowledge into clear, practical guides and tutorials. From onboarding developers to writing installation walkthroughs and API docs, Andrew focuses on content that’s accurate, approachable, and genuinely helpful.
Curious and detail-driven, he believes great documentation empowers users and supports teams by removing friction and making the path forward easier to see.
